Kabul: Over the past three and a half years, the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs says it has registered more than 653,000 individuals, including widows, orphans, and people with disabilities, offering them various forms of support.
According to Afghan state news channel Tolo News, Deputy Minister Abdul Hakim Haqqani shared that since the Islamic Emirate's full return to power, the ministry has facilitated aid amounting to approximately 12.5 billion afghanis.
Haqqani emphasized that assistance is distributed fairly among all eligible recipients, adding that educational programs and employment opportunities have also been made available, especially for orphans and the disabled. “Each eligible family member receives 2,000 afghanis,” he said, noting that the ministry also provides vocational training to help individuals secure jobs.
He further stated, “We are actively distributing food and clothing, and students from among the orphans and persons with disabilities are being trained and employed through vocational programs.”
While highlighting the progress, Haqqani pointed out that the biggest hurdle facing the ministry remains a lack of funding. “Our primary issue is the shortage of resources. Aside from that, we do not face major difficulties, and local community leaders continue to assist us,” he noted.
The deputy minister also acknowledged the role of other organizations that have supported over 130,000 people with food supplies, shelter, and job opportunities.
The Ministry says it remains committed to expanding its efforts despite financial constraints.
